Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) Educational Rights Grant
In July of 2007, the PEAL Center received a three-year Inclusive Education/ Education Rights Grant from the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council.
Underlying the work of the grant is the core belief that families need to be well informed in order to fully participate in planning for their children’s education. Families need to work collaboratively with school districts so their children are able to achieve life goals. To accomplish this, PEAL Center has formed a partnership with Millcreek TownshipSchool District and Erie City Schools, as well as the Pittsburgh office of the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PATTAN), the Intermediate Unit (IU), and the Pennsylvania Department of Education - Special Education. The staff of the PEAL Center meets regularly with the school districts and offers trainings and information on best practices. Grant funding supports activities such as workshops and materials to inform and educate families to be active participants in the educational process.
